December 2019 – Participation in the “Microzonation study of a specific area in Famagusta district” seminar organized by Cyprus Geological Survey Department

I.A.CO, together with many other stakeholders and academic staff, participated in the “Microzonation study of a specific area in Famagusta district” seminar, organized by Cyprus Geological Survey Department. During the seminar, we had the chance to become familiar with the geology and seismicity of Cyprus, as well as the significance of microzonation studies on the seismic risk assessment, emerging from the results of various studies. The geological and tectonic conditions of the study area are important factors that control the behavior of the subsoil and bedrock, under seismic events. Therefore, the derived seismic factors should be taken into account by the engineers within the design of any structure, as well as the seismic risk assessment of the current buildings and infrastructure.
