With almost 50 years of experience, Mr. Iacovos Iacovides is considered to be a specialist with unique and hard to find expertise in water resources management, both in Cyprus and similar semi-arid climate areas abroad.
Mr Iacovos, as a former Hydrologist, Senior Hydrogeologist and Principal Water Engineer of the Water Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (Cyprus), participated in most of the Water Planning projects (Paphos Irrigation, Western Mesaoria, Southern Conveyor project etc.) and Feasibility studies for almost all major water infrastructure projects of Cyprus, and management of all major aquifers in the island.
He has managed and coordinated a number of large scale projects, such as the “Re-evaluation of water resources supply and demand in Cyprus (WDD, FAO)”, and has extensive experience in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive in Cyprus. He has coordinated a large number of hydrological, hydrogeological and hydraulic studies and he is considered an expert in Water Works master planning and Water Resources Management, such as artificial recharge works, flood prevention schemes etc., both in Cyprus and abroad (Libya, Greece, Oman, Abu Dhabi, Nigeria, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, etc).
He is the author of many published articles and books, the most notable of which include the “Groundwater Pollution Control” by WITpress (2000), “Coping with Water Scarcity – Addressing the Challenges” by Springer (2009), “Water Resources Allocation” by Springer (2011).
